MobilityGuard – Privacy Notice
MobilityGuard tracks mobility scooters and texts riders and their carers when something goes wrong. This notice explains what we hold about you, why, and what you can do about it. It covers riders, the carers they choose, dealer staff and visitors to this website.
MobilityGuard is run by Scooterdoc Ltd (company no. 17258822), 58 Marshlands, Dymchurch, Kent TN29 0PZ, which is responsible for your information (the "controller"). ICO registration ZC256800. Contact: privacy@mobilityguard.co.uk · 01303 883123 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
What we hold and why
If you are a rider
| What | Why | Legal reason |
|---|---|---|
| Name, address, postcode, mobile, email | To run the service and reach you | Our agreement with you (contract) |
| Your carers and your location-sharing choices | To text the right people and show your location only to those you chose | Contract |
| Where your scooter is, its speed and whether it's switched on | Theft and tow alerts; finding you after a fall or SOS; the map in the app | Contract |
| Battery readings, charging and trips | Battery health, range and charging reminders | Contract |
| Scooter and battery details, battery test readings | Servicing and warranty | Contract |
| Alerts sent, texts and replies | Showing who dealt with an alert | Contract |
| App login and phone notification code | Signing you in and sending app alerts | Contract |
| Your signed agreement | Proof of what you agreed | Legal obligation and defending claims |
Because you use a mobility scooter, we treat your information as health information. We only use it with your explicit consent, which you give on the rider agreement. If you can't make that decision, someone with a Lasting Power of Attorney for health and welfare, or a deputy, can decide for you in your best interests. In a real emergency we may share your location with the police or ambulance to protect your life (vital interests).
If you are a carer
A rider gave us your name, mobile number and, if you have the app, your email, and chose whether you may see their location. We use them to text you about that rider's alerts and to give you an app login. Our legal reason is our legitimate interest, and the rider's, in getting help to them quickly. We don't hold anything else about you, apart from your replies to our texts and when you signed in. You can stop the texts at any time by replying STOP.
If you work for a dealer
We hold your name, work email and phone, and a record of what you did in the system, to run your dealer account. Our legal reason is our legitimate interest in running the service with your business.
If you visit this website or contact us
If you fill in a form or email us, we hold your name, contact details and message so we can reply. Our legal reason is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We keep enquiries for 12 months unless you become a customer. Our website host, GitHub, keeps short-term technical logs to keep the site secure. This website uses only the cookies it needs to work.
We don't sell anyone's information, use it for advertising, or make automatic decisions about people.
Who sees it, where it's kept, and for how long
Who sees it
- MobilityGuard, to run the service. Only Greg Gillies at MobilityGuard can see riders' locations.
- Your dealer, for their own customers only: name, address, contact details, carers, scooter, battery and alerts. Your dealer can't see where you or your scooter are.
- Carers, for the riders who chose them: alerts and battery, and the location only if the rider said yes for them. They can't change anything.
- Police or ambulance, in an emergency.

Your rights
You can ask us, free of charge, to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information (for a rider, this ends the service)
- stop using it, or object to how we use it
- give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere
A rider can withdraw consent at any time; we then switch the tracker off. A carer can stop texts by replying STOP, or ask the rider or us to remove them.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, phone 0303 123 1113.
